Ghana’s creative arts scene is a kaleidoscope of talent, skills, and vision. Creative arts present a wonderful opportunity for Ghanaians to redefine arts & culture while participating fully in nation-building and contributing to Ghana’s economic development.
Like every promising sector, there has to be a guiding and regulating hand that steers the progress of sector players and ensures that best standards and practices prevail.
The Creative Arts Agency is that guiding hand established by parliament through the Creative Arts Industry Act, 2020 (Act 1048) to provide the necessary institutional framework for the development and management of the arts industry and other related matters. In summary, we are a national agency focused on the development of creativity and culture. We exist to support Ghanaians in participating in the arts and developing creative capacities.
Through partnerships with organisations within the creative arts industry, we seek to provide a structure that will guarantee the sustainable growth of the industry. We invest public money from Government to help support the sector and to promote equal, national access to the arts and all opportunities therein.
As an Agency, we have a long list of functions prescribed by the Act to help us operate effectively and with direction. Our functions fall within the remits of promoting the growth and development of the industry as well as creating an even playing field for all industry players.
